Meet Dr. Guernsey

Growing up in Fostoria, I went to one of the original doctors of this practice when I was a child. I always had something that needed fixed after every hygiene appointment: I think I managed to be in the No Cavity Club only one time as a child!

Nevertheless, I was always intrigued and asked many questions about my dental care. My doctor was always great at answering those questions and making me feel comfortable with what he was doing, and why. These early experiences made me want to pursue dentistry as a profession.

In Practice

After graduating from Fostoria High School in 1998, I attended the University of Michigan, where I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene. Continuing on there, I then earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS).

I’ve now been in practice for over 17 years and each day am reminded of why I chose this career and the ways it enriches my life. Every person who comes to the office for care is unique and special. Each has different needs, expectations, and concerns, too. It is my responsibility to listen, educate, and work closely with the individual to identify the treatment options available to address their situation.

I enjoy getting to know patients as people and value how relationships grow as a result of us working together. With each person, I strive to improve their dental and systemic health, for a better quality and more enjoyment of life.

My team shares my passion for service to our patients and our community. We are united in our love for helping people and consider our patients to extensions of our families. We know our patients and can tell if someone is having a bad day and needs to talk or wants a hug.

There is more to having a successful dental practice than just fixing teeth!

Professional Affiliations and Continuing Education

I am an active member of the American and Ohio Dental associations, along with the North Central Ohio Dental Society. Through these organizations I have numerous opportunities to further my studies and stay current on new and advancing trends in dentistry.

By attending lectures and meetings, taking courses, and studying the latest publications, I learn about the latest research, technology, and techniques. Through careful evaluation of these developments, I am able to incorporate the best – those that are proven safe, effective, and improve treatment and results – into the practice and patient care.

I am passionate about making each of my patients comfortable and happy, and helping them live healthier lives. One of my particular interests is in giving people confidence in the smiles and seeing how that can change their perspective on life.

Beyond the Practice

It is truly an honor to serve my hometown. I’ve lived in Fostoria my entire life and my home is three doors down from where I grew up!

When I go home in the evening it’s to spend time with my amazing family. My wife Holly and I have two daughters, Evelyn and Adelayde, and three cats: Sophie, Vivian, and Liberty. Yes, our home can be busy – and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I love to serve and give back to my community through various service projects; it’s rewarding to get your hands dirty for the benefit of everyone.

My greatest personal passions? My Family, My Faith, My Music, and My Community. Oh, and Michigan Football!
